We are pleased to announce our special guests for the 9th Annual Jim Bernstein Health Leadership Fund Dinner & Lecture

 

Jonathan Oberlander, Ph.D, of the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, is our 2014 Key Note Speaker.

Jonathan Oberlander is Professor and Vice Chair of Social Medicine, Professor of Health Policy & Management, and Adjunct Professor of Political Science at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, where he teaches in the School of Medicine and Gillings School of Global Public Health.

Dr. Oberlander’s research focuses on health care politics and policy, health reform, and Medicare. Currently, he is studying and writing about health care cost containment, the Affordable Care Act, Medicare, and the political history of U.S. health care reform.

Thomas Bacon, DrPH, retired Director of NC AHEC, is our 2014 Career Achievement Award Recipient

Tom Bacon, DrPH, is a part-time Research Fellow at the Cecil G.Sheps Center for Health Services Research at UNC-Chapel Hill. In 2013 Tom retired as Executive Associate Dean and NC AHEC Program Director at the UNC School of Medicine, a position he had held since 1996. He served as Executive Director of Mountain AHEC in Asheville from 1982-1996. He is a member of the Trustee Advisory Council of the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust and is the immediate past Chair of the Board of the North Carolina Institute of Medicine.
